Panels

Data
State Data This panel contains data about the currently selected state and allows a means of changing these values.
State Info
The name and number of representatives of the currently selected state appear in the text fields at the top of the panel.
Population
The population in the current year is shown on the right and the population of the base year is shown on the left for comparison.
Growth Rate
The growth rate of the state is shown as the percent growth of that states current population per year. So population is compounded yearly. The buttons increment and decrement the states growth rate by 0.25%, clamping it between -5.0% and 5.0%.
Net Migration
The total amount of migration into the currently selected state. A negative net migration indicates that overall more people left the currently selected state than came into it. The buttons increment and decrement the states net migration by a factor relative to all state migrations. The net migration is limited below by half the states current population and above by the total number of people in every other state.
Net Immegration
The total amount of immegration from other countries into the currently selected state. The buttons increment and decrement the states net immegration by a factor relative to the total immegration into the United States. The net immegration is limited asymptotically below by 0 and above by the total number of people entering the country.
Migrations
At any time pressing the Migrations button will bring up a dialog box containing a representation of the migrations between the currently selected state, and all other states. This will bring up either a table listing the migrations from each state to the currently selected state or a map displaying this same information graphically. In the latter case, the state of the Options menu will be used to determine the coloring of the map.
Update
When you modify any data for the current decade, this button becomes enabled. Since updating the map is somewhat expensive, the only time its redrawn is when the Update button is pressed. Whenever the current year is changed this update is automatically done since the map must be redrawn anyway.

Migs
State-to-State Migs This panel allows you to change the number of people who migrate from one state to another.
From
Pressing the From button will make the next state selected from the U.S. House of Representatives Apportionment panel the "from" state. This state's name will appear in the text field below the "From" label.
To
Pressing the To button will make the next state selected from the U.S. House of Representatives Apportionment panel the "to" state. This state's name will appear in the text field below the "To" label.
Population
If both the From and To fields contain states, the number of people who migrate from the former to the latter will be displayed in this text field. Additionally, the buttons increment and decrement the number of people who migrate by 5,000.

Immigration
Immigration This panel allows you to change the number of people who immigrate into the United States.
Immigration
The number of people who immigrate into the United States. The buttons increment and decrement the number of people entering the country by 5,000. Since this is done by changing each states immigration proportionally and then adding up the total number of immigrants, the actual change in immigration may be only close to 5,000.

Year
Year This panel allows you to change the current year.
Year
Both the current year and the base year are displayed. The buttons allow you to change the current decade to any decade within the 50 years after the base year. When you change the current year, the number of representatives is recalculated and the information in the U.S. House of Representatives Apportionment panel is updated. Additionally, the current year in the State Data panel is also updated.
